I want to introduce myself. For some time now have been following messages here. I am very interested in Native ways, especially the old ways as once elders taught the people. Learned about the forum from a Cherokee Wolf Clan site. I am interested in Cherokee and Lakota traditions. Here is a larger photo of the obsidian stone, I photographed it today. It was in with some stones that I picked up on vacation at an age of perhaps, 15 years old. It is hard to detirmine where the stone is from, since this was during my childhood. I have a vivid memory of finding a very interesting rock out in the Dakotas.

I had some of those when I lived in Oregon. You are correct in your identification of the stone. I could not have told you that, but seeing it...I remember the name now. It has something to do with volcanic activity...and coal....and oil. It is compressed rock on its way to becoming coal, or a diamond. I think. Something like that. It is beautiful. I hope you plan to save it! Did you catch my dreamstone (triple) post here on this forum?...I live life on the edge! Hee hee. I am searching for one of those stones here in Tennessee this next summer when I am camping.
Anyway...WELCOME. Hope you can find help and answers here. We all try to be real nice. Let us know what you need, and we will see who can help.

Osyio (hello in Cherokee) lone4eagle, That is good to learning about Cherokee Wolf Clan and Lakota traditions. I'm a Cherokee Wolf Clan, what's the name of website or forum about that? I would like to view it, wado (thank you). Glad you found that Obsidian rock who carved by Indian! The most Native Americans found that Obsidian rock and carved it with deer's horn (used for tool) or other rocks and arrow heads. Wado for interesting this site and welcome to the boards with us! bearfoot, next time don't use double posts all the times, your post have "modify" (edit), do that. Our members do that when they're mistakes. PM sent.

Thanks bearfoot and White Eagle! Yes, the carving in the stone is very interesting. There is the Eagle, the left wing has the imprint of a single feather in it. Around the Eagle is a ripple pattern which spreads across the surface and is highly polished so to reflect light. I was holding the stone in my hand once, a white fog covered the surface so that it was looking white. The white color was something like a vision, but with my eyes open. There is at the top what looks to me like a Buffalo. White Eagle, the site was CWC forum of the Cherokee Wolf Clan. I think you may have had a post there and is how I found the Native American Community board here. Was looking at the CWC site a few times. bearfoot, I was looking at your post just before joining last night. I have info on the stone, I know it by another name, it is the Holey Stone. I would like to get back to your post when there is time to tell you about it. I feel welcomed already, glad to be here! (edit here) CWC site: www.cherokeewolfclan.org/

Thanks Annie Fawn, I'm feeling very welcome! I was already offering some medicine wheel prayers for the forum before joining. The prayers seem to be helping me a lot though, maybe I'm the one who needs them.

Glad to hear from you Huronwoman... I had been reading your posts for about 6 weeks before joining the forum. I wanted to a couple times. At the time though only had one Indian ancestor. Oh boy, had no idea, might discover bunches of them. I've got so many now, who knows where they all are now.
