My mother, White Feather read the newspaper and saw that's good to saved the Turtle's life. I saw that same sized as Red-eared Turtle on the street near river in Dickinson, Texas (that's where I live at) and the truck almost ran over that poor Turtle!!!!! So, I slammed the brakes and picked up the Turtle quickly and released the Turtle back to the river, whew! When you seen the Turtle on the street, please pick it up and release in the wild, Thank you.

We do that a lot with turtles in the road. It took years to convince the kids they couldn't bring them ALL home. At one point we did have 16 turtles living in our house.

Wow, that's A LOT of Turtles around your house and roads! That's good to keep the Turtles alive. I don't see any box Turtles around my house and streets anymore.... I went to all pet shops but they are not available, what the hell??? I want 2 eastern box Turtles and keep them in my house with a large fish tank, screen top for air in and with warm light bulb. I'll put that in the living room by the TV, it'll helps me to relaxing to watching the TV and watching the Turtles. Do you know what the name of pet shop do they have eastern box turtles for sale? or any websites?

Being of the Turtle Clan of my People I have a special place in my heart for the turtle, the mother of us all. Do we all know about the reason the turtle has 13 squares on its back. There are 13 moons in a year and each one of the turtles squares represent a moon. I was driving down a back road north of Austin with another horse trainer and friend when we saw 2 very large turtles in the pond copulating. I slammed on the brakes and went back to watch them, the process was short but we were in awe of them and felt blessed that we were allowed to watch this most intimate ritual. Be kind to turtles they are our Earth Mothers - AHO
