I have sent a message to Chief Stone Bear inviting him to clarify things for us! Did you e-mail him? Why did he disappear over 4 years ago? Why no activity here to promote the group from time to time?

There are many members that don't come here anymore. Lone4eagle & myself have been making some changes to the site and we are in hopes of having members become more active. I always see that a lot of guests are here. I stop coming to the site years ago, wasn't much activity then. I only recently came back, I believe it was the beginning of the year. I have looked on the Cherokee Nations site and did see that his group is listed on the fraudulent tribes. Although I did not see anywhere on the site that they claiming to be "federally recognized", they do charge for membership and I didn't see where you needed any blood quantum either. Only if you have Cherokee ancestors you can join. I don't believe they are trying to get funds, but then again I will need to reread more. Do you know Julie Ross personally? I could not find her name listed anywhere. On the Cherokee site there is just a contact for tribalrecognition@cherokee.org. Do you know Cara Watts personally? I found she is Legislator for Tribal Council. Just curious!

If you have a question she can't answer, she'll forward it to Cara Watts. But I think now, unless it's governmental issues, she's going to forward the questions to a Dr. Richard Allen, expert and historian on Cherokee culture at the Cherokee Nation OK. Let's see what he has to say.

They are supposed to be offering tribal membership, I guess "Federally recognized" would be important to see on their website. Right now, can't remember seeing it mentioned anywhere. It must not have occurred to us here to check for it, we just assumed that was the case. Looks like you're doing a lot of checking on things, as a mod would. I was hoping to add another mod to this site. If you want a mod position, just say so, I'll switch your profile status to NAC moderator. Maybe at the same time upgrade Standsalone to admin, a site should have another, in case something would happen, the site can keep going. Well, it looks like the membership they're offering is clearly spelled out as NOT being a member of the Cherokee Nation of OK and NOT receiving federal funds of any kind, and having no intention to do so in the future. I emailed this to a Julie Ross, Coordinator for Tribal Recognition Project of the Cherokee Nation, and all she said was, "Thank you" and forwarded it to a Cara Watts, Tribal Council member, and all she said was, "Wado." I repeated the question you have seen previously. All dead quiet... Looks like I'm putting my nose where it needs to be. I'll give it another week, but I'm in contact with a Gary Wright of Cherokeepride.org about this, and based on what he's told me, if he is honest, I have an idea of the huge problem we have on the traditional belief's endangered status within Cherokee Nation. I did this recently, invalidating the claim that my half-aunt/uncle were related to George Custer. They are not. They said that their father had researched this very thoroughly, and I did, too. Nothing there. Then they said that It was not Gen. Custer, but Gen. Montcalm-Gozon that I am also related to, the General who died in the Battle of Quebec in 1759. I believe I invalidated that as well, but I'm waiting to hear how in heck did my uncle came in possession of something that belonged to the general. It went DEAD QUIET after I sent the email inquiring about the story of the possession of the *** redacted information ***. Did I scare up a skeleton in the closet? So, are you sure you want me to be a moderator? I would kindly accept the responsibility in honor. Wado... You do need someone to have as a backup access to the forum. You'll have to train me, though. Ok, will set your profile to mod. Just do like you have been, any questions could be answered by Standsalone.

I have received messages from Chief Stone Bear and I believe in their mission. If anyone feels they are misrepresenting themselves I only ask that you pray to Creator to get your answer. I believe White Eagle's intention for this site was for all people to learn what they can from here and to make their own choices. Wado!

Although I do believe in their mission, I'm still confused over their use of Chief's titles....which is their business and they will have to answer for their use of the term. I am however concerned of the links they have of Cherokee words & their use of the syllabary under their name. I am taking the Cherokee language lesson on Cherokee Nation's official site and these are not the same as I am learning! I have asked about this, but have not as of yet, received an answer. I will try to find the answer and will let everyone know!

I will say this much, he once sent me a request to be added on my friends list at MYTribalSpace.com. He was there for a while, many NAs were leaving him comments. Apparently something happened, Chief Stone Bear didn't seem to be logged in anymore. While still there, we exchanged a few PMs and some nice chat. I then mentioned our site here.

I have sent a message to Chief Stone Bear inviting him to clarify things for us! Here is the message I received: O’siyo Stands Alone, I believe it is how someone was raised is the reason they think that way. If they were raised to always be disgruntled, then they are that way. If they are raised that each man must make Peace with the Creator for his own deeds, then they are at Peace. I am sure there are people raised both ways and that they are on both sides of this issue. Remember it is just another man’s or woman’s opinion. The CNO only represents a minority of Cherokee, they only recognize those who’s ancestors signed the rolls in OK in the early 1900’s. Many Cherokee did not go to OK or sign the rolls, probably around 20-25% of those alive at the time did sign. So many hid the fact so that they could own land, travel and live where they wanted to, they were still Cherokee, they just weren’t citizens of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, and their progeny cannot join the federal tribe today, but we are still Cherokee. We do not have a fake tribe, we have a Tribal Membership Organization for those Cherokee whose ancestor’s did not sign the rolls, our history is different than those who’s ancestor’s did sign. Our language and culture is the same and our past is based upon the same DNA as those who are members of a Federal tribe, we are distant cousins. Please remember, the CNO is not the judge of who is a Cherokee. For your answer for yourself, go to the Creator and he will give you your answer, that answer remains yours alone and cannot or must not affect others. We allow others to hold opposite opinions and must still respect each other. When respect breaks down, it is when trouble is brought into being. In the old ways to call people names and talk bad of them was considered witchcraft or sorcery and not condoned within the town and these people were ignored are were made to leave, as they brought unrest and not peace. I hope you understand this. People on this planet are raised different and think different, there is no right way or wrong way, just a right way of thinking and living for yourself. So many of our federal brothers and sisters were raised by the government and told that the government is the only one that can certify their “Indianessâ€. All that this does is keep us apart, to divide a people is to conquer them, ask Adolph Hitler. We do have members from the Eastern Band and the CNO that believe in our mission and have gone beyond the negative and have moved toward the light and the white path of peace. You cannot argue with someone to make them change their mind, logic does not prevail. The Creator is the final judge of us all. I am at peace with our Creator and accept any judgment that comes my way, when I pass from here. I do not argue with people on websites, if they do not like or mission they should take their attitude elsewhere, it is not welcome with us. We are member supported by dues, like any other organization and do not get millions of dollars from the federal government. That is my council. Wado, Tohidu, “go in a peaceful state of mind, body and spirit†Steven "Stone Bear" Phillips Principal Chief of The Nation The United Cherokee Nation (UCN) PO Box 1328 Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405 theucn.comchiefstonebear@theucn.com

I like what he has to say... I received a reply back from him, and he stated he has no idea why he is on a fraudulent tribe list. They've never told him why. I still haven't heard back from the AG why his group is listed on there. Funny how it was hot-potatoed around...
