I've booked a tent campsite at Crater of Diamonds state park in Arkansas for Oct 20-Nov 3. The park has a large plowed field which is over a volcanic vent, many different types of minerals can be found there including opal and amethyst. Small diamonds are found every day by visitors, could be placed in your medicine bag, if you find one.

I belong to a gold prospecting club, but the gold claims are so far away. My last trip to Arizona, camped out at the mining claims in the desert. This trip to Arkansas, stayed at a state park, they have a 38 acre field kept plowed with furrows to hunt stones in. The Ozark diamond mines once operated there, because of the greed it all finally ended. Instead of gold, my gold pans were full of the bluish green diamond ore called lamproite. It is the type of peridotite mineral Arkansas diamonds can be found. Past diamond mining operations there collected the ore, placing it on piles. Once brought to the surface and goes through the first winter, the rock weathers becoming soft. My pans below full of the weathered ore. I also have some hard pieces too (not shown). In all brought home about 78 bs. of diamond ore. The pieces hard enough to slice, I've seen polished slices of kimberlite/lamproite specimens small enough to fit into a 2x2' plastic holder, selling on Internet websites for $30-$36. Those specimens came from South Africa, NW Territory, other diamond ore locations around the world. Right now I'm just keeping what I've found. Seems like it ought be good as to add in medicine bags. Lamproite is ultra potassic, a lot of potassium, magnesium, calcium, and small mmica flakes. I think the powdwer from the weathered ore would be good for plants. Then the diamond crater is geologically connected to the area, including Hot Springs, Arkansas. The Manataka sacred site was there, once perhaps most sacred of all Native American circles. Here is info on that Native sacred site. Manataka American Indian Council www.manataka.org/page2.htmlIt was to Native Americans, like what Mecca means to the Arabs.

White Eagle, there is plenty, have all kinds of good stuff...more than enough for myself. Still taking photos yet, soon will be getting some ready. Have a few very large type of stones good for people who can cut & polish stones for jewelry making also.

I had a circle set up where you see those large rocks. blessed it with tobacco. This area didn't have many people coming through, more toward the southwest end. There is a vein of the bluish green ore goes SE beneath the surface of the ground. I found a big piece of slicing grade bluish green lamproite ore, probably worth many hundreds of dollars if you're cut polished slices. It was too heavy for me to carry, so left it there in the field. You can see my cap and large camera bag on the right. If nobody get's that piece, it will start to weather after going through winter cold, turning soft. This is in the SW corner of the mine field at the Crater of Diamond state park. You don't have to camp there, it costs a $7 fee per day, access to the field.

Wow, that's larger stones! Too bad that you can't lift very heavy stone... I wish went there to helping you with it.... I lifted around 200 pounds (no kidding, I'm very strongest iron man. I lifted my new 700-R4 (Over Drive) auto. trans. is for my Chevy Truck into my Mobile Home and carried out 2 times because of rained last Summer) of natural dark brown very nice shaped large stone (little larger than yours) that laid on the front yard by the street in 5 blocks of my Mobile Home parking lot, I loaded it on my 1/2 ton Chevy truck's tailgate and brought it home and dropped off then put it on my next door neigh boor's front yard, to keep many vehicles off the yards away from my Mobile Home so I can moving my truck back up and driving to errands to do then went back home. I think the large brown stone came from West U.S, not for sure, I will take pic of it and post here soon for you see it. Maybe you can tell what kind of stone and where it came from.

A truck would have been good for me, instead of car. Too bad we couldn't have some kind of small Native group, to camp, hunt stones, then have a private ceremony at the campsite. Springtime has many storms, but can be very nice weather end of October.
Anyway, I will show some pics of stones soon. ;D
