Does this lady look anything like anyone's 100% Cherokee Grandmother(s)? I think this is the right photo of the right G-Grandma. Does she look Indian?

That is my older sister she is holding, by the way. G-Grandma died before I got to meet her in person. I feel her in spirit though.
I am almost sure this is the right photograph.

For a person her age, best thing is to look at the cheekbones. High cheekbones are a good sign of Indian blood. Maybe look at some other old Cherokee photos to compare with.

Doing the math, she would have been about 85 in that photo. She was born in 1878. I think her cheekbones look high. Grandads sure did. Here is a photo of him, her son: Good idea, lone4eagle. I will have to see what I can find. Photos of Indians are hard to come by sometimes, though. That whole "camera steals your soul" thing.

I'm positive there is Indian in me, I am just trying to find out for sure what kind, so I know where to look for more information. I'm pretty sure I remember Grandad saying Cherokee, but I was a young child. Our family did not speak of it often. Just Grandad and I together when I would ask about it.
Believe me, I only want to know all of this for my own knowledge, and to share the history with my children. My Mother did the geneology for her side of the family. I'm trying to get started on my Dad's side, too.

Yeah, that's a good sign but some full-blooded Indians don't have high cheekbone (flat), mine is slight but I have Indian's eye browns, brown eyes, nose, lip, long arms, black and some gray hair, light to darkest reddish brown skin. When I was young, I had high cheekbone and now bottom side of my face is sagged that covered my high cheekbone.... I got older lol. When I smile and big grin then my cheekbone showing up bigger, lol. ;D

Even with the hat there are some obvious features like some Cherokees have...try searching in the Final Roles using their last names, select Cherokee. Try your great grandmother's maiden last name. www.accessgenealogy.com/native/finalroll.phpIt will bring up a whole page of results using my grandfather's last name, only found in Cherokee and Choctaw tribes in the Final Roles (5 civalized Nations).
