Are you sure Osiyo's description up there is correct? I thought it was o-si-yo, transliterated literally.

Are you sure Osiyo's description up there is correct? I thought it was o-si-yo, transliterated literally. That is the way I learned in class, I'm sure there are different ways for it to be pronounced as in western/eastern dialect and words being passed down.

My suggestion is, be sure to write down what dialect you are using when posting words. They're very different, more than we realize. It looks like you're using the Middle dialect in the east. I'm using the Western, or Overhill dialect from OK because we're next door to them in Texas.

This is the problem I have here. Look down at the "S" consonant and it tells you how to pronounce it. Apparently that is wrong, way wrong.
It is why from this point forward, I will not learn Tsalagi any further until I have the appropriate resources in place to help me learn it correctly.

This is Western band Tsalagi. 🙂
As far as I can tell, a few mistakes, which is okay.
Osiyo is more pronounced either "oh-see-yoh" with a very light emphasis on the y, more as a segue from "ee" to "oh", or just the informal "see-yoh"
And "how are you?" Is with a "D" - Dohitsu, pronounced in Western band tsalagi as "doe - hee - choo"
Also the word no, is just "tla" but how you got how to pronounced it right!
Hope this helps.
