I posted this in the wrong space so here is repost. Hello wanted to Introduce myself my name is Matt. I have no awareness of N.A. bloodlines in my family I am adopted in 1978 where adoption records were closed in that time period. How ever I am studying indigenous Shamans and Medicine people as a part of my own spirituality. I honestly feel connected to N.A. in the sense that the Medicine ways are holy ways that hold the salvation for all people. Regardless of color creed or otherwise. I have a friend who is one of the Grandmothers when I met her in Denver CO we had some long discussions and she asked me if I was N.A. I believe that she asked me this because of two reasons. She was able to know one of my spirit guides is a man named Red Hawk. Also it is my belief that my facial structure especially that of my nose is not of fully that of typical white people. Any ways I am grateful to be able to use this forum. It is my intent to learn and walk through this life in harmony with Mother earth and the Creator. I know this world is in need of healing and that is why I have taken to studying the spirituality of people who I maintain similar beliefs and views with. I hope never to offend anyone here but please as we grow together pardon any ignorance I maintain as I am willing to be educated in life's pathways.

Hi Matt and welcome.
When you say you have a friend who is one of the Grandmothers, do you mean the thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers?

I mean to say that as a term of respect for an Elder and she is the tribe's Medicine woman. Not sure of the 13 GM. She is in Northern California. I met her on the street, I am a street performer she stopped to ask me about where to purchase tobacco. I immediately knew she wasn't buying it for the purpose of smoking, but for prayer. I asked her to come back to see me after she purchased the tobacco. I told her I had questions, she agreed to do so. Shortly after I was wrapping up my gear for the night and headed a direction to look for her. I met her at the very next corner as a result I had full evening of conversation with her about the medicine ways. I was also telling her about my personal studies in Shamanism. I'm unsure of what tribe she told me she was from. But I remember her telling me in history they were referred to as "The People" when she made reference to this I had a recollection of what she was talking about. Her name is Mercedes Dacosta. Though she told me how to pronounce her first name I have forgotten how to, it wasn't like it reads or is spelled. Hope this helps maybe it will still leave you questioning but so am I at this point.

She had a tattoo of a red tail hawk feather, oddly enough my encounters with red tail hawk have been enlightening in there own ways. I'm certain it was the spirit of hawk that brought me to meeting her that night. Not sure why I felt the need to tell you that but I am anyway.
