Hello Everyone,
My name is Katie. I am new to the site and in search of the traditions and such to become more in touch with my ancestory. I do not have much to go on other than my great grandmother was a full Cherokee (born 1913). After the death of her mother she was adopted by a lady and her husband that did not wish to discuss any of her history what so ever other than to tell her that her parents were Cherokee; so we are at a dead end on that side. Her daughter's (my grandmother) father was 1/2 cherokee. So that left her 75% and it comes down in a way as to where I should be around 30-35% calculating both sides of my family in.
Thank you so much for accepting me here to where I can learn.

Check with any living relatives that might have had contact. Best place is to gleen as much information as you can places, times, names....then start with the census. Ancestory dot com is pretty good also I have a link that is broken down into states for online Genealogy and it is free if you can find where your great grandmother was born you might be able to trace back with this link. www.usgenweb.org/Hope this helps feel free to PM me with any questions and if I can help I will It has taken me almost twenty something years to finally get all the way back to My 8th Great Grandfather Amidoya Moytoy cheif of the Cherokee of Tellico. Good luck and tsilugi,(welcome,) Geyatahe Atsilvsgi (Wild Flower)
