Hi lakotalicious, I'm pretty new here too. I'm kinda learning my way around here. I'm always interested in talking with people from the rez. My mother is Hunkpapa Lakota and my father is wasichu. She lives in Rapid City. We visited last October (for the big Pow Wow).
I was moved from Wyoming to Texas when I was 9 years old. I haven't been back that way until the last couple of years when I was reunited with my mother after 30 years.
Because of the distance in miles and years, I don't know as much as I'd like about my heritage. I tried to call family last week and the phone was disconnected.
I guess being able to talk with someone from up there helps me feel connected to family in the area. Anyway, enough about me. I'd better get back to work. Let me be the first to welcome you.

Siyo, Lakotalicious!
I am Patient Frog. I wanted to welcome you, too. I hope you will make many new friends here as I have. Everyone seems to be willing to share and teach what many of us is lacking in our Native heritage, so if you have things to share, please do! I was curious as to what hand games you were refering to that you like to play. What is that? Is it just for fun or what?

Welcome to the boards lakotalicious! You have a GREAT tribes, glad to have you! Glad you have a great Native name. That's very healthy to having Pow Wows and play hand games! I'm very sorry to heard that your father pass away last year.... Go and climb on the top of hill or small mountain, you'll get a vision and see him one day when you're praying in about 4 days without water and food but be careful in very hot weather! Take care. Lakotalicious: Although I'm not the 1st to welcome you, let me be the first to call you Sister, we are all like family here and with your background I'm looking forward to your knowledge, what you take as everyday we will soak up like a sponge. Although I live in Texas now I have been to Pine Ridge during the 70's when all the trouble was going on. Enough said about that. Anyway welcome to our family! Blessings to you and your family, AHO
