Oh, I am one mixed up Cree. As a very young child, I was adopted into a white pagan witch family, and didn't learn of my heritage until I was 32 when they finally decided to tell me oops (yaho.) It was difficult to accept, and I tried to bury it, for several years but there is the Great Spirit that had haunted me until I faced it. Oh! the Great Spirit has some interesting ways about Him to make you come to an understanding that you can't bury the past while the blood of the ancients, and the people flows through your veins. Geez I wonder why I kept on collecting or creating native arts, humm. Also if you bury the past, and forget about it, you are bound to make the same mistakes over again. So since I don't particularly enjoy having to repeat myself over, its better to just keep walking the path in a straight line instead of in circles, because it can make you dizzy the smaller the circle gets until eventually you fall on your face. Many blessings to all.

Hello and welcome! I followed Native American ways for many years, including the "Sacred Pipe Ceremony" without knowing about me having some Indian blood (until recently). I have some info on pipe ceremonies, stone Medicine Wheel circles, medicine bag, etc. I'm not sure where the post is I made that has the link. I need to add some more to the medicine bag info page. The contents should be wrapped in red felt and a ceremony is used to open it when adding more to it. All the other info is there including the smudging of contents. www.peacewinds.com/index.htmlThere is a lot of misinformation or misunderstanding about the word totem. Notice I called it a medicine bag, rather than totem bag...this is the sacred bundle. Oh, most Medicine Wheels you see on the Internet are a version of the Sun Bear, which has 3 stones between the 4 directions. Check my info out and you will see there are 2 stones instead and what all represent.
