:)Hello
First of all, I would like to say thank you for letting me join the group. I am female and Scottish. I have no Native heritage , that I am aware of anyway. Perhaps some of you will be thinking .... so what are you doing here, this is a Native American forum.
I have always held the greatest of respect for Native Americans ever since I was a very young child, I dont know where it came but I have always felt a very stong affinity towards NA. I realise that many people throughout the world are now beginning to wake up to NA ways and many use it to their own advantage and claim untrue statements and sell so called sacred teachings. As a child I always saw the wisdom of the elders, I was always looking for traditional NA music and people thought I was a bit off the wall ( lol ) Anyway I come here as a genuine friend, I am not trying to be what I am not, I am only going where my my heart is. I realise that for some it may be difficult to trust a white person , I can understand this. I am not here to try and get inside info but to join in friendship. There are many similarities between us , my peoples culture was stolen from them, they were forced from their homes,we were not allowed to wear the kilt and our native tounge was taken from us although now many are relearning it. I am not a Christian and I do not see it as my native religion, it is an Eastern religion that was also forced on the people of this land to. I know that some native Americans dont agree with whites learning their spiritual ways , you need to live it and be part of it and they should look to their own ways. I while I believe this is so , especially when it comes to The Sacred Pipe & The Sundance I do believe that I can learn much by being part of the Sacred Hoop and taking on many of the values that hold true to my heart. I believe that we have much that can be learnt from each other and that it makes us stronger people.
I am sorry for going on so much but I just wanted to be truthful and let you know where I am coming from. I do look forward to chatting with many of you and reading your posts.
Thank you
Sky
