We Shawnee have had a history of friendship, war, friendship, war and friendship with the Cherokee people. while in Tennessee we were neighbors and allies against the Catawba and raiding parties of Haudenosaunee.
I wonder when southern tribes like the Cherokee and Tuscarora broke off from the main Iroquoian drift. Some scholars claim that Iroquoians share a kinship with the Pawnee and other Caddoan speaking tribes whose stories mention they once shared homelands southwest of all historical Iroquoian tribes.
