If you are interested in the plants that the Cherokee used for food, medicine, etc. There will be a Ethnobotany conference, there will also be a live feed if you are unable to attend. I think you may have to be registered at the site in order to see the live feed, not sure. Here's the link: www.cherokee.org/PressRoom/33007/Press_Article.aspx

Thanks! I'm going to call Monday or Tuesday to see if an interpreter will be provided and to be included in the live feed, or a transcript of the conference after it has concluded.

Your welcome! I'll have to watch the live feed. My Great Aunt told me about plants in my area that was used, but I want to learn more. I think someplace in my yard sweet grass grows, but I haven't found it yet. My husband knows where it is, but him being the teacher he is, he is making me find it on my own! Oh the torture ;D

I haven't been able to get through to them, but I tried out a video that was posted. I would like to know what was being said before everyone sat down at the table in this video. What did the person say? I am deaf and can't understand. www.cherokee.org/PressRoom/Webcasts/Default.aspxand select the video, "5/14/12 3:00 PM - Education And Culture Committee Meeting" Thanks!

It was very interesting, I took notes but will need to go back and watch it again as Mr. Harris went faster than I could write at times, after awhile my hand hurt...lol! He did not give any info on trees/plants that is used by a medicine man, that is only passed down, so you will not find anything like that here!
