My friend is Choctaw, but didn't grow up around the culture or anyone who is Choctaw. It seems his family doesn't know much about the Choctaw, so they haven't taught him anything.
But he has shown interest in learning about his heritage, going to Powwows and such. He's worried about reconnecting with his heritage though. You know, not being accepted because he was never around the culture growing up and doesn't know much.
So, for Christmas I want to get him a book. I either want a really good book about the Choctaw, one with accurate history, or perhaps a book by a Choctaw writer. I'm hoping that giving him a book might encourage him to reconnect with his heritage.
I would be grateful for any recommendations anyone can give me.
