I have been learning more about the way that Indian people search for their ancestors. I was told that they search on the mother's side first. I did not know that.
I am going to take a little trip to Tyler soon. My great grandmother died in Jamestown, Texas. I found where she is buried. I will get her death certificate and found out where she was born.
I will give you more news on White Eagle's and my search for ancestors as I find out more.

White Feather: Please do let us know how your search is going, I know your are putting in alot of time on it. I have heard throught the moccasin telegraph that contacting the Mormon Church is very helpful as they have records no one else kept. Blessings to you and Terry (does he had an Indian Name?). May the Creator keep you well and safe on your journey. AHO

My parents are not home from their's trip yet but maybe they'll be home this late night or tomorrow. I'll tell her to read your post. OK, my mother coped my 1st Great Grandmother's birth/death Certificate and gave it to me but my mother will get my Great, Great Grandmother Emma's birth/death Certificate when she's back home from her trip and we will going to Tyler, TX to get Certificate and paperwork to do. I took downloaded camera thru my Great Grandmother Jessie's birth/death Certificate, click on that thumbnail, to LARGER picture click again. My Great, Great Grandfather's full name is Thomas Hillary Adkins (on the left side of that Certificate) The last name is "Adkins" came from Cherokee tribes in West Virgina, he's half Cherokee and half white, also Emma Lavenia White have half Cherokee and half white too that my member of cherokeeshouston.org, Annette Elkins Brown - (before married, her original last name is Adkins, also in her family tree too) she found out about that for me. The most Cherokee people told the Government that they're Caucasian (white) because Cherokee people afraid of U.S Government IF they're tell them they're Cherokees and then the Government will remove Cherokee families/tribes and move back to Cherokee Reservation or even kill them! The U.S Government are very MEAN and murderer. That's WHY Cherokee people protect their's families/tribes, to let you know. Also, Annette told me that need birth record, hard to prove NDN when records say white, 1st requirement need to prove that I are related to someone on Dawes Roll Proof and that can be changed Lots of work!

I would not venture to guess but it might have something to do with White Eagle's crafts business or possibly grants or educational opportunities. I am sure he knows WHO he is but for whatever reason and I am sure it is a good one it seems he needs to prove it. Probably to the PTB's not to himself. AHO

I am only curious , it seems sometimes that there is an urgency to it. I wish him the best of luck in his quest
