Gather locust (cicada) at night, then pick up those out of the shell, remove shells from others. Do not let the sun shine on them or they will spoil. Wash and then fry in a small amount of grease. Eat hot or cold.
Thought this was interesting! Wonder if they would taste like crawfish?

I've found them already, in the morning sunlight, waiting for their body and wings to get hard. At first they are so soft, after emerging from the shell.

Directions Gather the locust at night immeditely after they have left their shells. Wash and fry them in a small amount of grease. Eat these hot or cold. Be sure that you gather the locust before the sun hits them or they will not be good. If you gather them before they split out of their shells, they only have to be peeled to be ready to wash and fry.

No, never have but seems Cherokees used some insects in their diet. I've been raised on traditional American meals, especially meat and potatoes.

Me too! Not too sure I could eat bugs, I guess if I was starving and that was the only thing to eat....maybe I could live off my fat a little while ;D
